Crediton
Crediton is the largest of the communities we serve with a population of 7835 people; a busy market town set in the beautiful Devonshire countryside. There are good bus and train routes to Exeter, 8 miles away, alternatively it is a 20-minute drive. It’s a growing and thriving town with several new housing estates either just finished or being built. With the A377, plus train and bus routes you are never too far from anything you may need. Many beautiful beaches and stunning Dartmoor are just a short drive away.
Crediton’s secondary school is Queen Elizabeth’s School, a split site operation with 1,500 students and serving the town as well as many surrounding villages. The school recently joined the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust of which many Exeter schools are part.
Crediton has lots of shops and cafes – on the high street you will find all you need from florist to pharmacy. There is also a town square where a market and other events are held, a leisure centre, park, train station, 2 primary schools, 2 medical centres, 2 big supermarkets, a football club, a rugby club and several dentists and hairdressers.
There are Congregational, Methodist, Catholic and Anglican churches in addition to many other clubs and organised groups. So it’s easy to find something that interests you – anything from a photography club to a running network! There are lots of local walks/running routes as it only takes a few minutes to get out of the town centre. A popular place on the outskirts of the town is Shobrooke Park.
Where we work…
“The value Connect brings to our school is immense. Support and space for students to ask the difficult questions and explore ideas around faith and life is greatly valued by students via lessons and clubs, support and input in our RE and Personal Development sessions is so helpful for staff and students alike and to have a presence in the school and get to know staff and students is really a blessing”.
